YOUTH EMPOWERMENT COUNCIL

Uniting youth in discovering their potential through positively changing the community and world around them.

The purpose of the Youth Empowerment Council is to provide a base for youth to work from. It is not necessarily a place for youth to be but a foundation from which they can learn basic skills that they can use to further their lives. The YEC is a collective thought tank designed to allow youth a voice loud enough that it can be heard. This is done by uniting in a cause that is set and determined by those that establish it.

- Meet every Thursday at Mercer FRC @7pm
- Dinner provided
- Drop-Ins always welcome
- Great for youth who want to become more involved in their community
- 9th - 12th grade students

YEC Coordinator: Afton Jennings 307-233-4263

NATRONA COUNTY PREVENTION COALITION

The NCPC is a program under the Mercer FRC. Funding for NCPC first came from the 21st Century State Incentive Grant, which focused on reducing substance use and abuse with community-wide environmental strategies as well as providing afterschool programming. This two-pronged approach has been the organizational structure since its inception. Throughout the last 9 years NCPC had received the following grants to provide healthy and positive choices to the community while decreasing substance use: CLC #1 CLC #2 CLC#4 CLC #5, DFCS years 1-5 DFCS years 6-10, STOP, SPF, NASA, CORE, as well as money from local foundations and business grants for example: City Promotions, Elbogen Foundation, Walmart, and McMurry Foundation. The NCPC currently has 30 actively participating agencies. Among our successes we have established Family Sections for local sporting events, created and distributed the Community Embrace Booklet, host Red Ribbon Education week, actively fund After-school Programming, and host Marketing Campaigns; Stay Afloat Don't Booze and Boat, Most of Us, Parents Who Host Lose the Most, and Be the Wall.

The NCPC meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 1pm @ the Oil and Gas Commission Building, 211 King Blvd, Casper, WY
